Real Estate purchases real property on behalf of UC Berkeley and manages a property portfolio totaling over 700,000 square feet. Where appropriate, they oversee development of UC-owned property via third party developers, or by donors who wish to make and gift facility improvements to the campus. Real Estate is also responsible for leasing UC Berkeley facilities, both on- and off-campus, to non-university tenants.
